First Draft

The end of the semester offers a perfect opportunity for me to look back at my development as a writer in this course. Through guiding me on a journey of self-discovery and skill development, the investigation of language standards, rhetorical situations, has been an unforgettable journey in my English carear.  This self-evaluation essay explores my development as a writer by analyzing stories about my writing path, Aaliyan’s literary career, and the opportunities and problems associated with artificial intelligence in the workplace.

Examining how attitudes toward language standards both encourage and oppress language users was one of the course’s learning objectives. I wrote in my first narrative essay about my writing journey and how my love of English began by my  storytelling with my mother. When I think about it, I can see how much my comprehension of language standards has improved. As I made my way through the stories about Aaliyan and the effects of AI, I developed the ability to identify and explain the powerful connections that are present in language use.

Another important component of this course was the investigation of genres and rhetorical situations. I created a profile of Aaliyan in my story that agreed with a wide range of readers, which demonstrated my ability to modify language and rhetorical devices for various situations. This is in line with the learning objective of the course, which is to explore and analyze different genres and rhetorical situations. I may not have been as aware of these details in my first narrative, but as the course went on, I improved at modifying my writing for different audiences and goals.

It has taken a long time to develop techniques for reading, drafting, working together, revising, and editing. I talked about my early attempts at storytelling and how I came to understand the importance of dedication and discipline when writing in my personal narrative. I then learned about the difficulties of self-doubt and the value of determination through Aaliyan’s story. These experiences helped shape my methods for dealing with  a difficult information environment, when working on my research paper.

I’ve seen a lot of improvement in the use of important rhetorical terms and techniques in writing contexts. In order to keep my audience interested, I used creative storytelling techniques in my personal narrative. Similarly, in the narrative about Aaliyan, I tried to balanced both positive and negative aspects in order to give a complete picture. In the research paper, where I  combined quotes and counterarguments, this created a deeper comprehension of persuasive writing. I used a variety of sources for the research paper, such as articles from magazines, scholarly journals, and internet resources, showcasing my proficiency with multi-platform navigation. This fits in with the learning objective of the course, which is to use technology to reach a variety of audiences. Using the lessons I learned from  examining various viewpoints on AI’s impact on the workforce in the Aaliyan narrative, I evaluated sources for credibility, accuracy, timeliness, and bias. The research paper shows a greater understanding of the value of reliable sources.

Writing texts that combine a position with relevant sources has been a major focus of my writing career. In my first story, I talked about the importance of creativity and curiosity. When I got to Aaliyan’s profile, I discovered how important it is to present both the good and the bad. These abilities came together in the research paper, where I integrated a nuanced viewpoint on the impact of AI, backed up by a wide range of reliable sources.

The ability to apply citation conventions methodically has significantly improved. I may not have followed conventions strictly, and my journey narrative may have had less formal citations. But by the time I finished writing the research paper, I had mastered the appropriate citation styles and understood how crucial it was to cite sources correctly while still upholding academic integrity.

This course has been a life-changing experience that has included learning about language standards, investigating genres and rhetorical situations, creating powerful writing strategies, honing rhetorical terminology, putting technology to use, assessing sources, and grasping citation styles. Every essay I wrote was a turning point in my writing career, a reflection of my developing skills. I take the knowledge and abilities I’ve gained from this course with me as I go, confident in my capacity to successfully negotiate the challenging terrain of language and writing.
