Final Draft

This semester has been a journey filled with exploration, self-discovery, and growth as I traverse the fields of language and composition. The learning objectives for the course have acted as guiding beacons, leading me through the intricacies of rhetorical situations, linguistic standards, and the craft of effective communication. In this self-evaluation, I will explore my experiences with three major essays, focusing on the reflection of these learning objectives: the account of my own writing journey, the analysis of Aaliyan’s literary evolution, and the research paper on AI’s effects on the workforce.

My first essay, a narrative about my writing journey, served as a canvas where I painted the picture of my initial literary experiences. Reflecting on the learning objective to “examine how attitudes towards linguistic standards empower and oppress language users,” I observe a significant shift. My storytelling, initially a diversion from conventional teaching techniques, reveals a transformation from a “lazy reader” to a creative and imaginative storyteller. The essay illustrates my growing understanding of the potential of language as I developed the ability to create appealing narratives for a target audience.

The second leg of my journey involved navigating the literary career of Aaliyan Qureshi. By attempting to “explore and analyze a variety of genres and rhetorical situations,” I enhanced my comprehension and dissection skills of various storylines. The story developed as evidence of both my development as a writer and Aaliyan’s tenacity. Throughout this journey, my methods for reading, drafting, working with others, revising, and editing have evolved. The story of my writing career highlighted the value of commitment and perseverance in the creative process. Aaliyan’s story emphasized the value of adaptation and the capacity to grow from failures.
